Following the October 17, 2023 explosion at Gaza’s Al-Ahli hospital, a number of NGOs published material either directly asserting or heavily implying Israeli responsibility. MSF was one of them. Although subsequent evidence indicated that the explosion was caused by an errant Palestinian rocket, corrections were often absent or buried. MSF's own claim remain online as of May 2026 - raising broader questions and concerns about methodological rigor and bias. Staff have reported to EiGHT that senior managers rejected correcting the erroneous claim to avoid appearing "pro-Israel."
